My Lightbulb Moment - Tara's Story

Become a nurse the lightbulb moment told me. What a road I have travelled in those shoes.

As I cast my mind back over 21 years in the game I have so many memories of patients, colleagues and friends that have walked beside me.

In the first half of my career I remember the tears shed when I spent precious last moments with a patient and their family in Palliative care to the 12 ½ hour shifts in the Emergency Department when you were lucky to get a toilet break.

The last 10 years has been spent as a mum to two active souls and as a school nurse looking after other families precious children.

Last year I joined CPR Kids and am so privileged to be sharing my knowledge, experience and many stories (that head injury on the rugby field to that child choking on a lolly at the shops) with parents, grandparents and carers.

My years as a mum and a nurse have taught me that children are unpredictable and get up to all sorts of mischief; life really is stranger than fiction!

At CPR Kids our nursing team will empower you with skills to act at a moment’s notice in an emergency and make a difference in a child’s life. Through osmosis my children have learnt the steps to follow in an emergency and recently my father at the age of 72 undertook his first CPR and First aid class.

All ages can learn so come along and join us at CPR Kids be it on Facebook, watching one of our YouTube clips or for a firsthand experience in a class and refresh those previously learnt skills or learn for the very first time……..
